Making a massive impact with their green initiative, Audi Centre Centurion has unveiled the world’s first solar-powered household charger for Audi e-tron owners. As a part of the Autohaus Centurion Group, Audi Centre Centurion has transformed the electric vehicle (EV) landscape with this incredible announcement.
Following the recent installation of Audi e-tron fast chargers at their dealership, ACC soon discovered that the charging units placed a substantial drain on the immediate grid. Peter Preusse (Audi Centre Centurion’s Managing Director) saw this as an opportunity to revolutionise the way that EV’s are powered. After reaching out to Andreas Wagner of ANH Technologies, a solar solution was soon discovered. By using the dealership’s roof, 50 kWp (50 kW worth of photovoltaic panels) was sourced and allowed the location to save on electricity. All this was possible thanks to the revolutionary systems of SMA Solar Technology.
However, this was only the beginning as the technology used at Audi Centre Centurion is also available for customers in the comfort of their own homes. An 8 kWp modular, future-proof system can be obtained with remote access through the SMA Energy App. Utilising a home charger that is almost twice as powerful as normal versions, this piece of household technology is truly groundbreaking.
“Our new solar charging solution for e-tron customers represents the culmination of many months of planning and preparation to make sure that it is perfectly compatible with our Audi e-tron range and with the various use cases and operating demands of our e-tron customers,” says Peter Preusse.
